JUNIOR CATHOLIC YOUTH MINISTRY (JCYM) Retreat at Honey Creek:
Sixteen Middle Schoolers in our Junior Catholic Youth Ministry (JCYM) went on Retreat, 26 - 28 January 2007, at Honey Creek Episcopal Retreat Center in Waverly, GA. Our retreat was very Christ-Centered, and it had the young retreatants engaged in various activities throughout the weekend.
On Friday evening and through most of Saturday we had Young Adult Ministers (YAMs) from Augusta lead us with spiritual talks, high-energy games, and music .
On Saturday afternoon we celebrated the Sacrament of Penance with Fr George Greenway hearing our confessions, then we had a Scripture & Communion service led by Deacon Larry.
Saturday Evening had us involved in a fun Confirmation Exercise that was quite moving and inspiring, and on Sunday after the Rosary we tried our hands at a couple of team-building challenges.
The JCYMers seemed to really enjoy the experience. They encountered Jesus. They made new friends. They were challenged. They were led toward a deeper faith in God.
