St. Williams Martial Arts Ministry – Budo Kai Kenpo Comes back a winner!

The Budo Kai Kenpo Martial Arts Ministry recently competed in the largest martial arts tournament in the United States, with over 3,000 competitors from around the World. The ministry held its own with 4 first place trophies and numerous 3rd place trophies and medals ranging from 4th to 8th place.

The Budo Kai sent 19 members to the International Sports Karate Associations U.S. Open in Orlando over the 4th of July weekend, out of the 19 competitors, 15 placed in numerous events, which included: heavy weight adult black belt fighting, under black belt fighting, point sparring, traditional and creative weapons and open hand kata’s.

The team consisted of: Team Leader Jim Keane, Assistant Team Leaders Nadine Keane and Gloria Guzman, Team Captain Bryan Keane assisted by Mary Keane, Salina Guzman, Tim Keane, Brea Forrest and Sam Queen. Other team members were: Marcel, June, Angelina and Jeremy Tebarts, Randy and Kyle, Casimir, Mathew and Mikael Walker, Christopher Culp, Carrie Bezanson, Jim and Nicholas Cutia, and Mathew McCormack.

We can’t forget the cheering section of all the parents that attended and a special thanks to our Budo Kai support from Ross and Morgan Sproat who were on the alternate competitors roster.

The team trained hard to compete and stayed up late hours waiting for their event so please join me in congratulating the St. Williams Martial Arts Budo Kai Kenpo Ministry for their dedication and hard work. We did the Parish Proud!

Thank you

Jim Keane
