Martial Arts Ministry
So why a Martial Arts Ministry, and doesn't it teach violence? Like any ministry martial arts is giving to the community and asking for nothing in return. Martial Arts doesn't just teach self defense but more importantly it teaches, discipline, core values, humility and humbleness towards others. The fact that the St. Williams Martial Arts Ministry is Christian in nature so we also teach Christian Catholicism and evangelizing our faith.

St. William Catholic Church Martial Arts Ministry.

First of all let me introduce myself, my name is Jim Keane (most of you know me or have seen me at Church), I am an 8th Degree Black Belt in Kenpo Karate. I hold a Professor ranking in Martial Arts. I have been involved in martial arts for over 30 years. I am married to Nadine (past CCW Treasurer) and have five children (Chris, Sean, Bryan, Mary and Tim) of which 3 including Nadine are involved in Martial Arts.

We have been able to get children to focus, and become more disciplined not only in training but also at home and in their school studies. I have had numerous parents inform me that they have seen considerable change for the good in their children since becoming involved in martial arts, and that we teach a good message.

Martial Arts is not for just the young, we have entire families that take martial arts at St. William. This is very important in that it gives good healthy quality time for the family. The health benefits alone are worth the try, martial arts concentrates on stretching from head to toe. At present we have 35 members from St. Williams, 9 from St. Francis and 10 of other Christian denominations.

The cost of the training is provided free and you must belong to a Catholic Parish and or be a friend of a Parishioner in good standing with the community and the Christian faith.

Training days are on Monday from 7 PM – 9 PM and on some Saturday’s from 10 AM – 2 PM. Our age groups are, 4 and up.
