RAIN FOREST ADVENTURE
July 14th – 18th fifty children from thirty eight families enjoyed learning about the rain forest and how God is the creator of all the good things that we enjoy. With the help of Shari the butterfly, Bill the toucan, Tad the frog, Esme the Macaw, and Cleo the monkey the children learned that we share, we give, we grow, we love and we praise.

Five bible stories reflected these values. Boaz shared with Ruth. Elisha gave food to one hundred people. The tiny mustard seed grew into a mighty bush. Jesus is the vine and lastly we praise, just as the people sang Hosanna and praised Jesus when he entered Jerusalem.
During the course of each morning the children celebrated these values via classroom time, crafts, music, games, and even science. While polling went on in the main hall on Tuesday 15th, we enjoyed ‘water Tuesday’ with water melon and lemonade for snack and an hour of fun in the sun with a big water slide, wading pools, and sprinklers.

This year our mission support was for the children in Cuzco, Peru. Rain Forest Adventure is working with project Huch Uy Runa (pronounced who chi roo-na). In Quechua (the ancient Incan language still spoken by many in the Andean Highlands) this means “small important person”. Huch Ya Runa is a non-governmental organization that since 1983 has taken children 5-17 years old off the streets and offered them, food, shelter, and medical care, along with a lot of love and affection. It has given them the opportunity to get an education and learn a trade. Thank you to all of our students and parents who helped us raise $186.67 for the mission!

Thank you to the many parents, teachers, and students who helped our campers have a most enjoyable week.
