The Council of Catholic Women has been awarding college scholarships to deserving high school seniors for many years. These scholarships are funded by the generous participation of parish members and guests in the events sponsored by the CCW. The CCW scholarships are awards for outstanding service to church and community, as well as academic and sports achievements and extra-curricular club memberships.
A very unusual event occurred this year in that four of the applicants scored very close to each other in all the areas of their lives that are considered. Therefore, the Council awarded four scholarships to the top applicants – something that has never been done before and may not ever be repeated. Pictured are the graduating seniors who were awarded scholarships at the Graduate Mass on Sunday, May 25.

Special thanks from the graduates and their families go to the Hospitality Committee who hosted an abundant hot breakfast after Mass. Pictured with Monsignor John Kenneally (back row, left) are the graduates who attended the Mass and Breakfast:

In addition to the individual college scholarships, the Council also donates a $1,000 scholarship to FrancisXavierSchool in memory of Father Hilary Gottbrath. This scholarship is to be granted anonymously by the Principal to a student in need of tuition assistance.
