Wiltz & Teeny the therapy dog by Krista Harris, The Brunswick News
Wiltz Bernard and his wonder dog Teeny were recently visited by Krista Harris and an article appeared in The Brunswick News as a result. Wiltz is well know at St. Wiliam as the Maintenance Engineer with the big smile who is willing to do anything for anyone.
Teeny was 'discovered' at Neptune Park while being blessed by a priest. A couple who brought Therapy Dogs International to Georgia approached Wiltz and encouraged him to put Teeny in training so he could visit people in the hospital and nursing homes and the rest is history.
Several times a month Wiltz and Teeny visit the hospital and Teeny does his thing bringing a smile to the faces of patients. Some visits have resulted in incredible stories where the parient had not spoken to anyone until faced with a sloppy kiss from Teeny. After one visit a little girl who was not making much progress suddenly recovered and was able to leave the hospital well ahead of schedule.
Teeny was trained locally for his service and traveled to Savannah to be tested for his certification.
On the Wednesdays they visit the hospital, Wiltz brings Teeny into the Parish Office to get his treat before leaving for their ministry and the staff is always amazed at how quickly that little bundle of fur can gulp down a Milk Bone.
